Major Debates Over Macroeconomic Policy
When discussing macroeconomic policy there are several debates: active monetary and
fiscal policy, increased government spending to fight recessions, reducing federal government's
discretionary powers, zero-inflation target, balanced government budget, and finally tax
incentives for saving. Although there are several major debates over macroeconomic policy, two
of them will be discussed in detail throughout this paper. The two major debates over
macroeconomic policy that will be discussed include active monetary and fiscal policy as well as
reducing the federal government's discretionary powers. Overall, there is a lot that can be
debated in regards to macroeconomic policy.
